Effect of Wheat Monoculture on Durum Wheat Yield under Rainfed Sub-Humid Mediterranean Climate of Tunisia

چکیده
Cultivating cereals in monoculture systems contributes to the decrease grain yield and quality. Currently, under Mediterranean climate conditions of Tunisia, wheat mono-cropping covers more than 70% cereal areas. In order reveal impact this practice on productivity, five improved durum cultivars (Karim, Khiar, Om Rabiaa, Razzek, Maali) were conducted two previous crop: one-year crop (W) successive years (W-W). Then, they assessed for (GY), components (NKS, TKW, NS), straw yield, harvest index (SY, HI), quality parameters during three consecutive cropping seasons (2017, 2018, 2019). The results showed significant effects season all measured parameters, except thousand kernel weight (TKW). A effect (p < 0.05) Pre-Crop was observed components. However, (GY) after (4082.3 kg ha−1) (W-W) (3277.3 ha−1). Our show that, based three-year experiment, almost related traits significantly affected by genotype HI NS. highest GYs recorded Rabiaa (4010.4 Nasr (3765.76 All season, but only gluten content (GC) vitreousness aspect (Vit A) genotype. On other hand, W-W decreased protein concentration (GPC) (12.13%) GC (22.14%) no Vit our study. Furthermore, GY positively correlated with (r = 0.64), NKS 0.59), SN 0.49), GPC 0.23), 0.23). According stability analysis, Karim cultivar is most stable (SY). Altogether, study provides useful information farmers how produce a satisfactory cultivation sub-humid environment Tunisia.

Saline/Sodic sub-soil on triticale, durum wheat and bread wheat yield under irrigated conditions
Sub-soil (> 30 cm) salinity and sodicity is a growing problem particularly in irrigated agricultural areas with rising water tables, poor water quality and/or deficient soil drainage. There were two objectives in this study; (1) to quantify the effect of sub-soil salinity and sodicity in grain yield of triticale, bread wheat and durum wheat and, (2) to determine if genotypes within and between ...
متن کاملProtein and lysine content, grain yield, and other technological traits in durum wheat under Mediterranean conditions.
A major problem for durum wheat production in the Mediterranean region is yield fluctuation. This fluctuation is a result of year-to-year variation in precipitation and heat stress during grain growth, which is typical of the Mediterranean climate. Both yield stability and good quality are needed in adapted durum wheat ideotypes. Ten durum wheat cultivars differing in drought resistance were gr...
متن کاملEstimating grain yield losses caused by septoria leaf blotch on durum wheat in Tunisia
Septoria leaf blotch (SLB), caused by Zymoseptoria tritici (Desm.) Quaedvlieg & Crous, 2011 (teleomorph: Mycosphaerella graminicola (Fuckel) J. Schröt.), is an important wheat disease in the Mediterranean region. In Tunisia, SLB has become a major disease of durum wheat (Triticum turgidum L. subsp. durum [Desf.] Husn.) particularly during favorable growing seasons where significant yield losses...

Traits Explaining Durum Wheat (Triticum turgidum L. spp. Durum) Yield in Dry Chilean Mediterranean Environments
Yield under water stress (YS) is used as the main criterion in the selection of wheat varieties for dry Mediterranean environments. It has been proposed that selection of genotypes using YS assisted by morphological and physiological traits associated with YS is more efficient in selecting high yielding genotypes for dry environments. A study was carried out at the Antumapu Experiment Station o...
